Agriculture Industry Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Action Plan
This Action Plan has been developed by the joint agricultural Climate Change Task Force (NFU, CLA and AIC) in consultation with the Industry Partnership below. The Action Plan represents a firm statement of intent that the agriculture industry will play its part in ensuring progress towards the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as required by the Climate Change Act (2008). Includes the draft action plan (2010) and delivery plan (2011). NFU, CLA and AIC, 4 April 2011.

Biobeds Design Manual and Site Checklist
Biobed treatment systems help reduce the chemical washed from sprayer loading areas & lost into the environment. This document will help select the most appropriate type of biobed and will assist in the preparation of the specification, construction and use for such an area, guiding the user on management principles for efficient operation of the area and final disposal of any discharge. A checklist for potential sites is also included. CPA and AIC as part of the VI, 2005.
Blue-green Algae: A Guide
Algal blooms can cause major problems. They are unslightly, often have a pungent smell, make affected water unappealing for recreational activities, make affected water unsuitable for agricultural use and they can cause serious difficulties for drinking water suppliers. This short leaflet provides information on the problems and their toxicity, how they form, how to identify them and guidelines for control. This document has an Australian origin but provides useful information. Australia Cooperative Research Centre, 2004.
Catchment Management: Land-use and Water
A catchment is an area from which all water drains to a single watercourse. Since the 1970s the UK has moved towards managing the interactions between land and water on a catchment basis. This document explains the integrated approach currently adopted as UK policy. CIWEM, september 2006.
Climate change - A Guide to Facts and Fictions
It has become fashionable in some parts of the UK media to portray the scientific evidence on climate change and the impact of greenhouse gas emissions from human activities as an exaggeration. This document examines twelve misleading arguments and highlights the scientific evidence that exposes their flaws. Published by the Royal Society, 2005
Climate Change - Part of the Solution (AIC)
The National Farmers Union (NFU), the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) and the Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC) launched the joint Climate Change Task Force in January 2007 to present a united stance against the serious threat that climate change poses to agricultural production and the rural sector. They aim to demonstrate how the agricultural sector offers part of the solution to a major public problem. This report represents the culmination of a great deal of study and sets out our recommendations for action. AIC, 2008.
Climate Change Factsheets
These fact sheets aim to explain the impacts, opportunities and challenges of climate change on different farming sectors and suggest ways to adapt and combat climate change on the ground. Farming Futures - Forum for the Future, the NFU, CLA and ARF, 2009.
Environmental Factors in Pig Production
Legislation on emissions from agriculture is likely to become more stringent. This booklet describes the potential emissions, their effects, causes and measures for their reduction associated with pig production. A quick guide to emission reduction is presented and the relevant legislation is summarised. BPex and MLC, May 1999.
